First-Year Students: University Foundations : Topics of discussion this week included: what is an emergency, how to use the activity app, using the discussion board, answering emails, students were asked to email Mrs. Southard three things they learned and one thing they are worried about. What to do if they are lost on campus or cannot find a class. Students were also asked to read the syllabus for the class by Friday. Students could get in groups and read it together outside of class. We reminded students to use their resources. We also covered getting to study hall on time and correct behavior in the hallway. First-Year Students: University Foundations & Relationships 101: Debra Southard Hello, Welcome to THRIVE. I received my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Central Missouri in 2003. I also earned my Bachelor of Science in Education from UCM. I have lived in Warrensburg for over 40 years. I have taught Family and Consumer Science for 25 years. This is my third year with the THRIVE program. I teach primarily first-year THRIVE students. I am the administrator of PLATO, an online classroom program that all students will work on. I meet regularly with the first-year students to help with organization skills, class assignments and any other concerns they might have. The first...
