To keep updated on what’s coming up please refer to your students or UCM activity calendar. DIrector Notes:  We will keep families posted on any new developments involving our campus and the coronavirus.  It is a very fluid issue and we’ll do our best to have options. Thank you in advance for being flexible about whatever the university decides to do.  Facebook, Twitter, and email will be the primary modes of any university updates. First-Year Students: Workplace & Community Skills (Mrs. Southard & Dr. Manning):   Monday we talked about customer service. The discussion centered around dealing with unhappy customers and not letting someone's unhappiness spill over to students' home life. First-Year Students: Workplace & Community Skills (Mrs. Southard & Dr. Manning):   Some of this week's discussion was the students ' last job shadowing experience. Students used some of the class time as an opportunity to get some assignments completed. Wednesday we discussed what it means to be dependability. Dr. Manning explained situations at work that could use creativity to solve. A lesson centered around problem-solving skills.  In Workplace and Community Skills they have some added lessons coming in on Fridays.  Here is a picture of Mel giving the students some helpful hints. First-Year Students: Workplace & Community Skills (Mrs. Southard & Dr. Manning):   Students this week did their second job shadowing. Some of the places they went to included the rec center, Foster Knox daycare, Safe team, lifetime animal center, and OAS office. Students rotated around so they were not in the same location as their first experiences. Students were assigned to write thank-you letters and a reflection paper about each experience.  Learning Strategies (Mrs. Southard):  Monday students were expected to complete homework. The class was canceled that day due to interview candidates for next year. Chapter 2 test was online and it was open all week. Students could take it as m...
