First-Year Students: University Foundations: Debra Southard     Students this week took a test over chapter 3. For the most part, they did pretty well. Also this week we talked about determination, persistence, and patients. We watched a true story movie called “Door to Door” about a salesman with cerebral palsy. We discussed his drive and work ethic. First-Year Students: University Foundations: Debra Southard     This week's topic is time management. Students made their own todo list. We have several ways to make a to-do list using apps or just writing it down. We used notability to take notes on chapter 3. Every Thursday point sheets are due. About half the students completed the sheets. Students reflected on the connection between the time they studied equaled to the feeling of being prepared. We discussed time management and that will be an ongoing topic. Also in class, we have three former students come in and have a panel discussion. Current THRIVE students got an opportunity to ask questions without a teacher present. First-Year Students: University Foundations: Debra Southard   We took a tour of the learning commons in the library. They explained the services they provided to all UCM students. We went over Chapter one this week. Topics of discussion included: connecting to others on campus, expectations of instructors, differences between high school and college, and smart goals.   Nash was helping the students get ready for the weekend… it was so tiring.
