Over the last 2 weeks we’ve had some snow/ice days that limited our time with students, however, they still had homework and activities to do over that time.  Here is a combination of the last two weeks... First-Year Students: Workplace & Community Skills: Monday’s Class we covered a couple of important topics. We practiced shaking hands with people using a firm handshake and looking the other person in eye. We discussed personal space and how each person is different as to what is comfortable. First-Year Students: Workplace & Community Skills: Workplace topic this week was a discussion on job shadowing experience from the week before. Examples were viewed.  Students were asked to write thank you letters to their supervisor. Wednesday in class we critiqued the student’s letters one on one and worked on improvements. First-Year Students: Workplace & Community Skills: Monday students showed their iMovie’s, each group was to create a trailer iMovie illustrating workplace issues that we discussed in class. The rest of the class was spent discussing job shadowing, dress code, expectations, and locations. Wednesday student’s participated in team building activities. Dr. Manning reserved the gym in the rec center and students participated in several exercises. On Wednesday I caught the class working on team building skills in the gym.  Here are a couple of pictures. I’ll place more on our Facebook page.
