Students took a stress test to determine how much stress each student was experiencing. We discussed the many sources of stress and ways to release it. Dr. Manning shared a personal story about stress and its effects. We shared different scenarios at work, the possibility of stress on the job and how to deal with it. On Wednesday students got personal experience with being overwhelmed. Dr. Manning and Mrs. Southard assigned a five-page paper for the students to work on during the break. First-Year Students: Workplace & Community Skills: This weeks topic was problem-solving and critical thinking. Dr. Manning taught these lessons this week. While Mrs. Southard inserted information.  Discussed were the importance of these skills in every job. Examples were presented in class and ways to solve problems. Dr. Manning gave several examples of ways students have demonstrated problem-solving skills in the past. Also covered was the need for this skill at all levels from the boss to the employees. First-Year Students: Workplace & Community Skills: This was the second interview week so classes had to adjust to a different schedule.  Students participated in their second job shadowing activity. Each student was assigned a different career to experience. Also, an assignment was additional work on Missouri Connections. Students were to answer various questions related to your likes/dislikes as it relates to career fields. The program will arrange the student’s career preferences based on those answers.  The topic on Wednesday Class was about ethics. We defined what the word met and read workplace dilemmas and discussed possible solutions. Discussed was ways for an employee to show ...
